UC Davis is home to a host of programs and resources designed to inspire staff, academics, students and community members to add physical activity into their daily lives to support their health and well-being. These outdoor facilities and opportunities merge movement with the great outdoors.
Aquatics Unit at the Rec Pool
Based out of the UC Davis Rec Pool, Campus Recreation's Aquatics Unit offers multiple programs. From lap swimming and kayak rolling, to student swim lessons and water sport clubs, regardless of your aquatics experience, the Rec Pool is your oasis on campus!
Green Commuter Program
The Green Commuter Program at UC Davis Health is designed to promote sustainability and environmental stewardship while reducing the cost and stress of an employee's commute by encouraging use of alternative transportation options.
Intramural Sports
Campus Recreation Rec Sports provides students, faculty, staff, alumni and other university affiliates the opportunity to participate in more than 40 competitive and recreational sports activities.
Outdoor Adventures
The mission of Outdoor Adventures, a unit of Campus Recreation, is to provide students with low-cost outdoor adventure opportunities and leadership experience, including wilderness first aid, kayaking, whitewater rafting and backpacking.
UC Davis Bike Program
Bicycling is the #1 mode of transportation at UC Davis. The Bicycle Program serves the Aggie Community with a goal to provide ongoing cycling education, ensure cyclists have ample support and keep everyone riding.
UC Davis Moves
An annual Spring event in which you can choose your favorite physical activity and strive for at least 30 minutes of movement per day. This event is offered by the Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being Program.
Walker Tracker
Walker Tracker is an app-based physical activity platform that records your steps from walking or from your favorite physical activity. The program encourages friendly competition to increase movement through virtual challenge maps and device synchronization. This program is currently offered by the Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being Program.
Walking Loops
Take a break and move your body with one of the Walking Loops. Choose the distance that works for you and explore a loop on the Davis Campus or the UC Davis Health Campus.

City of Davis Bike and Pedestrian Program
The City of Davis is one of the top bicycling cities in the country and is considered the bicycle capital of the United States. The Bike and Pedestrian Program is dedicated to making Davis a great place bike, walk, and ride transit.
Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA)
SABA is helping make the Sacramento region a cleaner, healthier, happier place to live and work through advocacy for equitable transportation, skills building classes, bike maintenance and repairs and more.
The Hike and Learn
The Hike & Learn group started in October 2023 with a desire to incorporate hiking into a physical and mental health curriculum for students and professionals. The team plans quarterly hikes around Northern California and has emerged as a valuable education and training tool for professionals, especially in the nursing community. Nurses can earn 1 BRN CE unit.
