By getting outside we can grow outside. Green spaces provide opportunities for improving community cohesion and gaining sustainable gardening skills.
UC Davis provides countless hands-on and informative experiences to get close to and cultivate nature. Whether nurturing your own garden, or volunteering at the Student Farm or in the Arboretum, support your health and well-being with these outdoor opportunities.
Student Opportunities:
Aggies Grow Veggies
A community of UC Davis students who like food and sharing gardening tips and tricks to support all in the journey to growing food gardens.
Botanical Conservatory
The UC Davis Botanical Conservatory houses a collection of more than 3,000 plant species both rare and common in greenhouses. The plants are used for everything from teaching in biology labs, to experimentation by researchers, to showing elementary school kids what plants have to offer.
Learning by Leading
The Arboretum and Public Garden offers several internship opportunities in which students gain leadership experience addressing a variety of environmental sustainability, restoration and literacy issues by working in teams to solve real-world problems right here on campus.
Student Farm
Since 1972, UC Davis students have cultivated a 23-acre organic farm where students create, maintain and explore sustainable food systems. The Student Farm offers opportunities in market-scale farm production, food access and security, diversified fruit, vegetable, and herb cultivation, garden-based education, commodity crop breeding, and pollination habitat establishment and restoration.
Community Opportunities:
ASUCD Community Garden
The ASUCD Community Garden is an inclusive space for people to learn about sustainable gardening, enhance health and well‐being, engage in experiential learning, connect with the community, and practice environmental stewardship.
