Effective In-Depth Mindfulness Offerings at UC Davis Campus: a pilot study looking at the feasibility and effectiveness of offering a 6 week Mindfulness Awareness Practices course, an 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course and the online Science of Happiness Course through the Greater Good Science Center, UC Berkeley.
We are piloting three different methodologies of mindfulness based programming. The first offering is Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), the second offering is Mindful Awareness Practices (MAP) and the third offering would be UC Berkeley’s The Greater Good Science Center’s, Science of Happiness Online Course. All three offerings take place in the winter/spring quarters and be open to faculty, staff and students. MBSR would be offered at the UC Davis Health campus, MAP would be offered at the UC Davis campus and the online course is available in both locations to all of our faculty, staff and students. Objectives: to compare the effectiveness of each offering on various mental and emotional well-being measures and to pilot various offerings and formats (date/time/location/time investment, etc.) to see how populations within our UC Davis community respond and to inform any future offerings.

We expect that we will have positive outcomes on multiple health and well-being measures, these will be measured by self-report and computer tasks delivered by Qualtrics.
We also expect that we will have at least 20 participants finish the MBSR training, 20 participants finish the MAP training and at least 20 participants finish the Science of Happiness Course. We will survey the class post-training to see if the format worked well for them and if there are any other suggestions for format improvement.
